Senayt-Gaim-With-Children.jpg

Hello

I am Senayt Gaim, founder of Children of Africa- Preschool and Cultural Center. My goal starting this school was to create a healing and empowering environment that focuses on self love, identity and confidence building. While I was completing my Bachelors Degree in Pan African Studies at California State University, Los Angeles; I was absolutely inspired by the Marcus Garvey School. I loved how self aware, brilliant, and vibrant the students were. I started studying other cultural schools that reinforced the history of their culture and language, and saw the influence that this placed on the child's self-esteem. Drawing inspiration from those experiences is the genesis of what created the Children of Africa Preschool and Cultural Center.

I believe having an education is so much more than memorizing words; it's creating a foundation of how you see yourself in the world. This is critical if you want to navigate yourself towards success. As a Black-African woman myself, I understand the struggles of coming from an immigrant Black family and the confidence needed to steer through the world. At the Children of Africa Preschool and Cultural Center, we focus on education through cultural awareness, creativity, and a loving holistic community environment. We hope you look at our video to gain a more in-depth look at who we are. Thank you for sharing this journey with us.
