Cultural Center

The Goal of the cultural center is to encourage and strengthen community bonds with youth, especially those who want to learn more about Eritrean and Ethiopian culture. Inspired by other cultural centers like the Jewish, Chinese and Korean schools, we wanted to focus on the element of cultural education. African history is deep, complex and rich. Eritrean and Ethiopian history, traditions and culture goes as deep as ancient kingdoms, religious influences, and hundreds of years of customs. At the Children of Africa Cultural Center, our aim it to teach this to the next generation so all historical identity doesn’t get lost and the youth grow up having pride in where they come from.
We plan to teach Amharic and Tirginya classes daily from 5:30pm- 7:00pm (M-F). In those classes, we teach about language, culture and heritage through holiday celebrations, historical lessons, and group discussions. Our aim is to to encourage an atmosphere that shows love and respect for people, culture and community.
